About

Samira is the National Urban Forestry Portfolio Lead for CRS, playing a pivotal role in the development and management of a five-year program aimed at fortifying the field of urban forestry, enhancing equitable access to urban tree canopy in disadvantaged communities, fostering broader community engagement in urban forest planning, and advancing best management and maintenance practices to bolster resilience against climate change and extreme heat. Before joining CRS, Samira served as the inaugural director of the Cleveland Tree Coalition, a dynamic collaborative effort between public, private, and community stakeholders to nurture a healthy, vibrant, sustainable, and equitable urban forest in Cleveland. Samira holds a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, a Master's degree in Urban Planning and Development, and certification in GIS. A proud Cleveland native, she also serves as the Chair-elect for the Urban Forestry Commission for Cleveland, demonstrating her deep-rooted commitment to her community and environmental justice.
